This nearly 40-year-old deck/patio in Villanova had been constructed of pressure-treated wood, painted black. While unusual, the color complemented the home’s white stucco, black trim and modern aesthetic. The decking was in serious disrepair and the framing also needed an overhaul. The most difficult part of the job though was finding black composite decking – even the sales rep we finally located in Ohio asked me to confirm in writing that we wanted 1300 square feet of BLACK decking. We reinforced the framing and installed the new decking as an exact replica of its former self, as well as clad the existing built-in planters in new composite decking to match.
